Most people don't understand the duties of an Athletic Trainer. Many when they hear Athletic Training they think about a personal trainer. A personal trainer is someone who's job is to encourage others to exercise. An Athletic Trainer is a medical professional whose duties are to be able to recognize, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries. The purpose of this blog is to share the experiences I gain from assisting a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Broken Clavicle
This week we did not see very many injuries occur. It was infact a very nice quiet week. The only injury that we received was a broken clavicle. During a takle, the football player was picked up by a member of the opposite team and slammed against the ground. He ended up getting a stinger down the left side of his arm. Upon further inspection it was noted that he was tender around the distal end of the clavicle (the side closer to the shoulder). The Doctor later confirmed that it was indeed broken and he will be unable to return to play for the rest of the season.

That is a bummer, glad you cleared up what the clavicle was, I was like, huh? Where is that? This really sounds like a tough game and if it is a career, and even tougher one. One serious injury (which sounds kinda easy) to take you out, and that is the end of your sports days.
